Smoky has been adopted (now Nova!) 🐾

Nova has found her perfect match with Joshua, Paige, and their two adventurous kids. Already a lively, dog-loving family, they share their home with Mika, their 1-year-old husky, and always knew a second dog would one day join the pack. That “someday” has officially arrived.

Life with this crew is anything but still. Daily walks, a dog park just three minutes away, and endless games of fetch and backyard zoomies mean Nova will never run out of fun or companionship. Mika is ready to be her built-in best friend, partner in play, and co-explorer of all things exciting.

Beyond the neighbourhood, the family thrives outdoors, discovering new trails, exploring parks, and heading off on camping trips and hikes. Silent Lake Provincial Park is already a favourite destination, and Nova is in for many more adventures under open skies.

A huge thank you to everyone, including Northern Reach Network, and foster family Sean and Sally, who helped bring Nova to her forever home.

Happy Trails Scout! Boots has been adopted (now Scout!)

Scout has found a caring and experienced home with Donna and Gary, a couple who took their time, asked all the right questions, and made sure they were truly ready to welcome another dog into their lives.

After recently saying goodbye to their beloved “mini pony” of a dog, a big, spirited GSD/Malamute from Manitoulin Island, their home has felt a little quieter. He was a smart, high-energy boy with a knack for mischief and a love of attention, and they met him with patience, structure, and plenty of exercise. That experience has shaped exactly the kind of home they now offer Scout.

Donna, a longtime figure skating coach, and Gary, who works from home three days a week, have built a routine that ensures Scout will have companionship, engagement, and consistent care. Their days already include morning walks of 45 minutes to an hour, with flexibility for midday outings when needed. Their daughter is also close by and ready to step in for dog-sitting support.

Scout is stepping into a home that understands energetic, intelligent dogs and meets them with patience, structure, and love. It’s a fresh chapter filled with steady guidance, meaningful activity, and a family ready to embrace him fully.

Thank you to Northern Reach Network and foster family Sean and Sally, for their roles in bringing Scout to his home!

Thank you to Donna and Gary for opening their hearts to Scout. Welcome to the Hopeful Tails, Happy Tails family!

🐾 From the Brink to Beloved – Meet Dov (now Brody) 🐾

Just weeks ago, this beautiful 4-year-old German Shepherd was a stray… alone, out of time, and hours away from euthanasia. A desperate plea went out to save him—and thanks to the kindness and quick action of an incredible community, his story took a very different turn.

Courtney of Trauzzi & Co in Guelph stepped up immediately, offering to board him and buy us the precious time we needed to find the right foster. That act of generosity changed everything.

Enter Jim & Karen—lifelong German Shepherd lovers with extensive training experience—who opened their hearts and home to this deserving boy. Now lovingly called Brody, he’s settling into country life like he was always meant to be there.

With acres of space to explore, a safe place to rest his head, and a playful new sister, Nova, by his side, Brody is thriving. His personality is shining through more every day—loyal, intelligent, and full of life.

This is what rescue is all about: second chances, teamwork, and believing that every dog deserves a future.

Special thanks to Kim Jesty of Hamilton Animal Services who works so very hard to find placements for these deserving dogs in the shelter.

Please welcome Brody and his parents to the Hopeful Tails family!

Happy Tails Milo! 🐾

Milo was a very popular boy and he stole many hearts on his journey.

Joanne and Justin, a recently married couple, both grew up with dogs are were very eager to add a rescue pup to their family. Coincidentally they lived a few blocks away and offered Milo a similar lifestyle that he had grown to love in his foster home. He went to live with his new family as a foster to adopt, waiting for his neuter appointment and officially was adopted this week. This athletic boy keeps everyone busy and elicits joy and laughter daily with his silly antics.

Many thanks to the Northern Dog Project for entrusting us with his care. Please share some love for Milo and his new parents!
