DIY In Progress
I love garden experiments!! 🌱✨
I learned that Hydrangea colour is controlled by soil pH and how available aluminum is to the plant. So adding things to your garden can change their colour depending on what you add!
If you want PINK hydrangeas 🌸 (raise the pH/ make soil more alkaline based) you can add:
- garden lime (very common and reliable)
- wood ash from a fireplace or wood stove - it contains calcium carbonate and potassium (use lightly because it works FAST)
- crushed egg shells - very slow and natural method that adds calcium
If you want BLUE hydrangeas🪻 (lower the pH to make soil acidic) you can add:
- aluminum sulfate - the fastest and most common way
- elemental sulfur - slower but long lasting
- pine needles or composted leaves - natural and gentle
- coffee grounds - mildly acidic, but not always strong enough on their own.
Garden science is half the fun of gardening!
I’m trying again this year … do drop your favourite gardening tips below! 👇
Still Jumping for joy over this table ✨
This bright, modern boho inspired coffee table might not be everyone’s aesthetic - but it’s perfect for my friend Deb. Watching her step into a new chapter and redefine her style has been so inspiring, and I’m honoured I could make something that helps her space feel a little more like home.
I truly believe everyone deserves a home that feels safe, sparks creativity, and reflects who they are on the inside. This table is just one small piece of Deb’s fresh start.
If you were designing a coffee table for your space, what would it look like? ✨
