Meet Najma, an occupational therapist based in Minnesota, who is developing a sensory-friendly hijab inspired by her younger sister, Nasteho.

The SereniHijab is designed with lightweight fabric and subtle padding around the ear area to help soften loud noises, making it more comfortable for people who are sensitive to sound.

Najma came up with the idea during her doctoral studies when a professor asked her class to think about adaptive tools the world still needs but that haven’t been created yet. That question sparked the concept that would eventually become the SereniHijab.
