XIX – The Sun

The Sun card is one of the most positive in the deck, representing happiness, enthusiasm, and prosperity.

It can also represent a child-like enthusiasm and wonder for life, much like The Fool card. The child represents new beginnings, joy, and alignment with one’s true self. Or perhaps even inner child healing through joyful and creative ventures.

This is my interpretation of the Rider-Waite version, done with tip pen and alcohol markers and pencil crayon on card stock.

The Seven of Wands – Valour
Mars in the 3rd decan of Leo

This card represents courage, overcoming opposition, competition, challenge, and perseverance.

Valour means great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle.

When this card comes up, it could be representing your courageous and fighting spirit.

What battles have you had to fight lately which require valour?

Three of Swords - Rider Waite
Lord of Sorrow
Mars – Moon
Saturn in the 2nd decan of Libra

The Three of Swords from the Rider-Waite is a striking and famous image, and its simplicity lends itself well to the archetype of what it represents. The heart, being pierced through by three swords, evokes images of emotional pain, sadness, grief — feeling hurt, rejected and betrayed.

As the suit of swords represents the mind, it seems as though the heart is being destroyed by thoughts, being consumed not only by the emotional pain but by the inescapable toil of the mind.

Inverted, this card can represent self-criticism, limiting beliefs and negative self-talk.
