Emma Asiedu-Akrofi has spent more than a decade shaping conversations around gender equity, leadership, and systemic change.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Fora: Network for Change, she leads with a vision of empowering women and girls while tackling the structural barriers that persist in professional and social spaces.

A Black Canadian woman of Ghanaian descent, her leadership is guided by an intersectional, anti-oppressive approach — ensuring that the fight for equity includes those at the margins.

We spoke with Emma about the role of advocacy in today’s social and economic landscape, what it takes to create lasting change, and why representation at the highest levels still matters.

What. A. Year.

2025 was an incredible year for Fora. We soared to new heights, engaged with so many new young leaders, made a phenomenal number of new connections, and deepened our commitments to our wonderful community. We could use so many more adjectives to describe our gratitude, but we’ll try to keep it simple.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

The gender equity sector collectively navigated some difficult challenges this year. We grappled with an unpredictable economic environment, and we responded to new hurdles, but we’re closing our 2025 chapter with so much to be proud of.

If we connected with you this year, just know that your support and energy made an impact on us. If you participated in one of our programs, we’re proud to be part of your journey. If you supported our work and invested in our mission, just know that we wouldn’t have been able to celebrate these accomplishments without you.

As we look forward to the new year, we wanted to take a sec to appreciate everything we accomplished this year.

Do you have a special Fora moment from this year? Share it with us in the comments. 🥰

Finally, we’re still working toward an ambitious fundraising goal to keep our work funded in the new year. If you’re in a position to donate, please consider making a gift that invests in the next generation of leaders!

Your donations are tax deductible, so there’s a dual benefit to making a donation.

New episode coming to you at 1pm EST! 🫂

What happens when four generations gather around one table to talk about mentorship, power, and the future of gender equity? In this live conversation from Fora’s spring event, Accelerating Change: Bridging Generations, Building Futures, panellists Sandra Bussin, Bakadisula Marthe Bakana, Salima Valji, and Eva Zhu join moderator Marija Shaw to explore how their experiences as mentors and mentees have shaped who they are and how they lead.

Spanning Gen Z to Baby Boomers, our panellists unpack the expectations and tensions that can show up in intergenerational relationships—who gets listened to, who is expected to “pay their dues,” and how younger leaders are using their voices, skills, and digital competencies to challenge the status quo. Rather than romanticizing either “wisdom” or “disruption,” this episode sits in the messy middle, where vulnerability, conflict, and care can all exist at once.

Whether you’re an emerging leader looking for guidance, a seasoned decision‑maker wondering how to show up for the next generation, or someone rethinking your own role in movements for change, this conversation invites you to see mentorship as a two‑way street. Tune in to hear how each generation is building bridges, not just for the future, but with each other.

What if we invested in young feminist leaders?

At Fora, we’ve had the privilege of supporting over 1,500 young people — each of them driving change in their communities, asking harder questions, and holding space for a more equitable future.

But none of this happens by accident. It happens because our community — that’s you — believe in them, and choose to act on that belief.Right now, our Board of Directors are matching all donations up to $7,500 until December 31, 2025. That means your $25 becomes $50 — a doubled investment in leadership training, tools, and the kind of support that helps a young feminist leader turn their potential into impact, and carve a new future for them in their career and leadership journeys.

Make a donation today, and be a part of powering youth-led change.
