Here are some useful tools to spread awareness during Black History Month:

1. Leverage your Employee Resource Group or Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) committee for ideas and support.

2. Post educational content on your internal digital engagement platforms.

3. Share how your company is celebrating on external social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and company website).

4. Host company wide Black History Month Awareness Sessions & Events.

5. Host a African/Afro-Caribbean Dance Class as a creative way to highlight the month, while fostering a culture of openness and acceptance.

✅ Alumni Network: Reaching out to your alumni network is always a good way to help with your job search. Some Alumni networks have a database that allows you to access many job opportunities. They also have a directory of their alumni with information on where they are currently working, so you can always contact a graduate that works for the organization you would like to work for. He/she can give you great insights or even refer you!

✅ Referral: A lot of companies use a referral program to recruit top talent. We definitely recommend reaching out to anyone you know that might be working for the organization that you are applying for. It could be a win-win situation! They will benefit from the referral bonus and you will also land your dream job!

✅ Networking: Knowing that 500+ candidates might apply for a job, networking can definitely help you get your resume at the top of the pile! There are many ways to network virtually. You can find various networking events on Eventbrite in your field, or leverage a professional association that organizes networking events or even speak to members of your alumni. These are all effective ways to network in order to help you with your job search.
