Basil's On Gerrard

Still a sucker for old bootlegs, especially when the price is right.
Still on ice as Basil's for now, but recording my radio show from the front studio which is now more if an office and kids' birthday party room.
This album is from a King Biscuit radio broadcast as sounds real nice. The whole show us now easily found online, it's from Lexington in 1974, with some pretty funky moments.
Chicago seem like a simultaneously under and overrated band. Their massive popularity sort of precludes most groove seekers from giving their albums the time of day, but I put Chicago up above B.S.T whom I also enjoy, but not as funky as T.O.P. know what I'm saying? And overrated in my modest opinion as some of their later hits are real products of their era...
So just posting a little hello to say we are alive..! Been a while...
Might start record sales online. Stay tuned. This lp is not for sale, just brandishing it on Instagram!
In the meantime, still taping Veritable Infusion here, heard in and near Toronto on CIUT 89.5 FM Monday nights, or ciut.fm/shows/veritabke-infusion online all the time.
Little caveat- I'm a ham fi**ed goon with a tiny baby finger keypad on my fone, sorry for any obvious spelling errors.

Good evening from Veritable Infusion radio coming on in about an hour at 8 pm.EST on ciut 89.5 fm in and around Toronto, or www.ciut.fm everywhere else.
Tonight, starting with Indigenous toonage as usual and moving on to a soul on stage set with music from Daptone and Martha and the Vandellas. Congrats Martha Reeves on hittingb80 yesterday!
And we'll say good bye to Biz Markie who sadly passed away Friday.
Veritable Infusion should be on the station archive at ciut.fm/shows/veritable-infusion from tomorrow afternoon or so for about a week.
Somehow still recorded at Basil's on Gerrard, thankfully the reno has been steamrolling along since replacing the useless contractors we had first. Lord have mercy on Saint Basil's Toronto namesake.

Happy belated birthday to a Veritable king of Minneapolis, Prince on June 7.
I played a couple of hits off this fine l.p. I found in Montreal about 30 years ago. It wasn't in great shape when I got it, and I admit I kind of trashed it over the years. I used to d.j. the occasional party or event and this was a pretty good one to throw on.
And throw it on I did for a bit on yesterday June 7th's edition of Veritable Infusion, broadcast Monday nights in and near Toronto at 89.5 fm CIUT and online thereafter for a week or do at ciut.fm.
Also a birthday nod and segue via Tom Jones, then hit some obscure funk and disco hits.
June is Indigenous History Month here in Canada, and in the wake of the recent discovery of children's secret graves at the Kamloops Residential School, I talked a little bit about history of The Mohawk Institute near Brantford and similar accusations of secret children's graves. Music from that set was from Six Nations artists as well as The Mighty Mohawks and the North Stars with their popular "Monsters."
Second set of the first hour is Craig Cardiff- live and talking to me.
It was an interview I kind of botched (audio wise on my end) but resurrected so Craig sounds fine, even if I sound like I'm yelling at him through a walkie talkie! He played 3 songs live, as well.
Recorded while the building shakes, at Basil's on Gerrard.

Greetings from Veritable Infusion! Posting as Basil's where I am somehow still recording the show despite the place falling down around my ears.
My computer broke down Friday, the morning after I taped an interview with singer Craig Cardiff... anyhow, found some other stuff to play but I hope to either dig out my dead hard drive or retake the interview.
Played a little Latin funk set, with jams from the States, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil and of course Colombia.
Then hit some soul 'scurities and funky sounds... talked a bit about the show and my motivation because...
It's...
SPRING FUNDRAISING WEEK!
So we really want to hear from you - our piles of volunteers including mice elf... our skeletal staff team... the steady stream of bills associated with keeping a radio station afloat even when the dj's and hosts are all free...
Come check us in and around Toronto at 89.5 FM where Veritable Infusion starts at 8 pm or go to the site, taking donations as I type, at ciut.fm online.
