Canada’s New Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship – Lena Metlege Diab

Lena Metlege Diab has been appointed as Canada’s new Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

With a background in law and public service, and lived experience as the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, Minister Diab brings a strong understanding of immigration policy to her federal role. During her time as Nova Scotia’s Minister of Immigration, she played a key role in:

✅ Increasing provincial nomination levels
✅ Introducing new Express Entry–aligned pathways
✅ Advancing refugee resettlement initiatives
✅ Driving improvements in immigration program delivery

This federal appointment may lead to continued developments across Canada’s immigration system.
