Congratulations to our 2026 High School Champions: UTS!
UTS put on a dominant performance at the Championship, going a perfect 16-0 to earn the advantage in the finals against Renert. Despite falling behind in game 1 of the finals, UTS clawed back in the fourth quarter to secure their victory in a very close game, 400-355.
This Championship caps off a historic season for UTS in which they went completely undefeated -- the first Consensus team ever to achieve this. Join us in congratulating UTS on an amazing season and an incredible Championship run!
We'd also like to congratulate our runners-up, Renert, as well as our bronze medalists, Glebe!
All in all, our 2026 Championship was a fantastic tournament featuring elite level play, as well as wonderful sportsmanship, from all of our 12 teams. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the teams who participated and to the coaches and parents who helped make it possible.
We hope you all have a good summer, and we'll see you back in the fall for more Consensus!

Moving east, next up is our first ever Championship team from Kingston: Frontenac! After fighting for the top spot in Ottawa throughout the season, Frontenac will be taking on the entire country this weekend. The team had this to say:
While still in its infancy, the Frontenac Trivia Team has experienced a thrilling year of competition. Starting with their Renwrite victory in the fall, the team has made the podium at every Consensus tournament in Ottawa this year and they’re excited to be meeting with national competition this time. Our team includes three seniors; Raf, Evelyn and Reese and one junior, our “lock”, Patrick. We know our graduating players will represent their school well in their final tournament. We’ll miss them next year, but Patrick and the Juniors will carry on the legacy.
Good luck to Frontenac at the Championship!

Rounding out the Championship teams from Toronto is Marc Garneau! Marc Garneau qualified off a very strong performance at the Toronto Centre qualifier, and will be attending the Championship for the first time. The team had this to say:
Marc Garneau has been participating in Consensus competitions for three years. However, this is our first time competing in the Consensus Championships! We are a school on the border between East York and North York, named after a famous astronaut. We are super excited to be here and try our best!
Good luck to Marc Garneau at the Championship!

Next up, we're featuring our defending bronze medalists: the University of Toronto Schools! UTS qualified after a decisive first-place finish at the Toronto Centre Qualifier, and will be looking to extend their streak of medalling in every Consensus Championship so far. Let's meet the team!
We are very excited to compete at Consensus Nationals! Here are some facts each team member wanted to share about themselves:
• Jeff knows there was originally nine “tung”s in tung tung tung sahur, but now there’s only three in the modern Triple T. Inflation, amirite?
• In practice Akhil was once right about to say ‘haemoglobin’ then changed his answer to ‘Io’ (the moon of Jupiter) and got forty points
• Isaac thinks pigeons are government drones
• Neel has advocated since 2024 for players of Consensus Trivia to be referred to as “Consenters”. The popularity of this terminology has almost certainly decreased because of said advocacy.
- Once M did not outbuzz anyone on categories they were not meant to. Everyone then woke up.
• Finally, our supervisor Mr. Bitidis’ life is enriched by coaching the school’s trivia team. He now knows what Tung Tung Tung Sahur is.
Good luck to UTS at the Championship!

Let's meet our next Championship team: Renert School! Representing Calgary, Renert is looking to add to their recent string of strong results, including narrowly missing the podium at last year's Championship with a close 4th place finish. The team had this to say:
Renert School is coming back to Toronto and won't be leaving without the Rein Otsason trophy. Having played since Grade 6, Aydin Hirji is now taking the captains' chair in his 7th year. His brigade, consisting of the high and low culture duo Alaana and Deven, man of the land Nishil, and rising upstart Siddarth are looking to have this Consensus Champs be the one that brings them infamy. Alberta may be landlocked, but Renert will bring the buzz come hell or high water.
Good luck to Renert at the Championship!
