There is something about this place that makes you feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be. šš
I donāt call this place a food hub for no reason.
Maybe six years ago, when it was just an idea and a lot of hard work, it didnāt make much sense to people. Back then, there wasnāt much to see. Today, itās a little easier to understand.
A food hub is about more than food.
Yes, people come here to buy produce, meat, dairy, and groceries. But over the years, this place has become something more than that. It has become a place where people can connect. A place where community groups share ideas and help each other get stronger. A place where someone having a difficult week can stop in and know theyāll be greeted with a smile.
Some people come because they need affordable food. Some come because they enjoy the conversations. Some come because they donāt have many opportunities to connect with others. Some come because they simply want to be around people who care and show their support
Soon, some will come to spend time with the animals, walk the property, and enjoy another piece of what weāre building here. Soon, some will come to learn about what we do here, why we do it, and the skills that many people are now realizing they wish they had learned years ago.
A food hub isnāt just a place that distributes food. Itās a place that helps strengthen the relationships, knowledge, and support systems that make a community resilient in the first place.
Thatās why seeing TacOasis set up here today was so special.
Great food has a way of bringing people together. Throughout history, some of the most important conversations have happened around a table. People gathering, sharing stories, laughing, and breaking bread together is one of the oldest forms of community we have.
Watching families, friends, and complete strangers gather around some of the best tacos youāll find anywhere has been incredible. The food is amazing, but itās the atmosphere that stands out most. For a few moments, people slow down, sit together, and simply enjoy each otherās company.
Thatās what this place was always meant to be.
Food is the reason people arrive.
Community is the reason they stay.
And weāre not done building.
Next Saturday, weāll be welcoming a Registered Massage Therapist to the hub to offer short 10-minute massages. It may seem like a small thing, but itās another example of what weāre trying to create here. Weāre always looking for new ways to bring people together, support one another, and create opportunities for connection.
Whether itās food, workshops, animals, conversations, tacos, gardening, or simply giving someone a reason to get out of the house for a little while, weāre paying attention to the things that help people feel more connected to their community.
Thatās what a food hub means to me.
Not just a place that feeds people.
A place that helps people find each other.
