Every summer I start getting the same messages.

“My hair was so smooth yesterday.”
“Why is it suddenly bigger?”
“Why are the ends feeling fluffy?”

And honestly? It’s usually not the extensions.

I always laugh because we spend months wishing for sunshine and then the second it arrives we’re all standing in front of the mirror wondering what happened.

You’ve heard me talk about how important aftercare is especially in the summer. Here is what actually happens when sunscreen hits your bright blonde extensions. They go salmon orange coloured and splotchy. This happens because of the ingredient azobenzene. It reacts and discolours the hair. The best course of action is to never let wet skin or wet hair touch after sunscreen is applied. Keep your hair up in a braid or bun. Thoroughly wash your skin first, then let your hair down to wash it. Apply leave on conditioner as well to act as a barrier. If all else fails call me and I can fix it! A thought I had today…

Not every extension appointment is about longer hair.

Sometimes it’s about filling in the areas that won’t seem to grow no matter what you do.

Sometimes it’s about adding density where years of breakage, thinning, or damage have left the hair looking sparse.

Today we cut her hair shorter and used a small amount of extension hair to fill in the sides and create a shape her natural hair couldn’t quite achieve on its own.

No dramatic length.
No waist-length transformation.
Just hair that looks fuller, healthier, and more balanced.

Honestly, these are some of my favourite transformations because nobody notices the extensions.

They just notice that something looks better.

And that’s usually the goal.
