"What even is a micro-trend?" you might ask yourself. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A micro-trend is essentially a short-lived but extremely popular trend that involves a certain reference, perhaps to pop culture or otherwise.

The best example currently is that of popular sound bites or audios that become popular for weeks to months on end on platforms like Tik-Tok and Instagram.

These trends are almost always low-barrier, which makes them very easy to jump onto. Most of the time they're poking fun at something and are easy to customize/adapt to your own situation/experiences.

The result? You hold a greater potential in getting noticed/going viral with micro-trends, and also show that you and/or your brand are relatable.

Ultimately, being relatable and approachable are key for small businesses - it shows who and what kind of person is behind the brand, which builds further trust and potential business.

This will give you a solid foundation for creating your business presence online, tracking performance and marketing, and of course communicating and planning your schedule. Its intuitiveness and price tag (read: free) are some reasons why this is still at the top of our list.

👉Canva: While there are other affordable and customizable design sites and programs, Canva takes the cake for ease of access, price point, and the sheer range of things you can get done. No matter what the level of complexity of your brand or marketing project, Canva has templates, assets and an amazing workflow to help you get things done.

👉Facebook/Instagram: Both Instagram and Facebook are two widely used social medias that can provide immense leverage for business owners. From ad creation to providing the ability to shop right from the sites themselves, they're key for businesses to attract potential customers or clients. While IG really takes the cake with its shopping tab and visual interface, Facebook has its own shop feature as well, rendering both hugely advantageous.
