READ THE CAPTION: Does this make sense?

I don’t know.

I wrote it in my Notes app during a really long walk in Spain last week, and it seemed helpful to me. Sweating and exhausted, I reflected on a few of my projected irritations.

The obnoxiously peppy waitress. The guy who snored last night. Those loud American tourists reinforcing stereotypes.

God forbid a person be happy, asleep, or themselves, you know?

The nerve of some people.

But it’s not about them.

It’s about what they bring up in me.

(Pre-sale for my new book starts July 14. Signed copies. Special treats. Stay tuned!)

Yesterday I talked to 400 people at a water company about safety culture, courage, and the conversations we avoid at our peril.

It’s hard to describe a keynote in words, but after years of stages, there’s finally a reel showing what it looks like in two minutes.

If you’re planning a training, conference, offsite, summit, or campus event, and you want your audience to feel something and leave changed, I might be a good fit.

Link in bio for the new SPEAKING page.

If you’re an organizer or know someone who is, please send them my way. I’d love to get on more stages this year.

And everyone who’s ever been in one of these rooms with me: Thank you!

You’re why this exists.

Months back, I was talking to a friend about kids and their development when I told him, “It’s such a fun phase, man. I can make her laugh and joke around with her now. It’s great!”

He smiled and then said something that surprised me, “Wait until they make YOU laugh. Then it gets really good.”

I think we’re there now, friends.

New level unlocked.

(Also, my new book is nearly done. Much more on that soon, including a pre-sale and sneak peeks!)

I’m an empty nester now.

Kendra and Squish went to visit her parents, so it’s just me and the silence for a minute.

She’s growing up so quickly.

Squish, I mean, but also Kendra. They’re both maturing in their own ways, each discovering their shadows.

Squish was a useless cuteness potato for so long, and then suddenly, she could ride a bike, touch a cow, and say words like ‘helicopter’ and ‘pterodactyl’.

They’ve been away less than a day, but part of me already misses the chaos.

Time slips by less delicately in the quiet. Its elbows feel sharper, with better accuracy.

I wore one of her yellow hair ties on my hand yesterday, and I left the Legos on the floor as a mini-memorial.
