Riverview Riding and respite - Equine Assisted Learning

For those of who helped me by buying my hens.... this is what we have collectively done together. I know some people dont care about animals suffering, or care that they get eggs and meat.... but this is what these poor girls were living like ..... they were be going to be gassed for pet food at only 1 year old. We went and bought them, drove them home in the freezing cold, and put them in the barn with food and water. It takes 3 hours a day to fill their food and water and collect their eggs. It cost heat, feed $2000 and shavings. But here they are... and the community has been buying them (to help cover the costs) and buying eggs. These sweet girls love pecking in the dirt, having sun baths, little chicken fights with each other, and jumping in the water bowls. We are still getting about an egg a day from each of them. I am proud of this work we are doing. Suffering should not be mandatory in raising animals. We CAN and should do better.
