Quick update:

I am approved for the Federal Government Greener Homes $40,000 ten year interest free loan.
There is a new program coming from the City of Calgary with different terms coming soon.

I have been wanting to maximize the return on this loan. So I am wanting maximum value and lower possible utility bills going forward (maybe free)

Here is where I am

This project is eligible for an additional $5,000 grant

Attic insulation upgrade from 2in of wool stuff to;

New attic seal from attic to house and
2b.
R80 insulation
3.
New 80G electric hot water tank
10 year warrantee
4.
Solar for the house 12kW est
25 years warrantee
5.
I have some room left and the options are;
5a.
Electric condensing clothes dryer, no venting to outside
5b.
Electric induction stove top, looks nice
5c.
On-site battery storage(still researching)
Store and save more on the utility bill
6.
I am asking a few friends if they want to bulk buy with me and save a more $$

Government of Canada has added a new $40,000 interest free loan for 10 years.
This can be added to the $5,000 grant from the Government of Canada.

Quick update

Most of the houses in the Western part of Sundance are split level houses either front-back or side-side, with one side having cathedral ceailing and no second floor.

What if this was an opportunity to add 400+sqrft to the house by building over the “other” half of the house? The new part of the house would have the new siding.

What would you add?

2. Another bedroom?
3. Extend the master bedroom?
4. Add a bigger new master bathroom?
5. Balcony with a bedroom?
6. Other ideas?

I was thinking of moving the roof vents for my upstairs bathrooms to the side of the house to make space for solar panels.

But why vent warm humid air?
