You can make a pair of pants/trousers out of your buckskin too!!
In this it took 2.5 deer hides. You can see one of the hides was smoked with a different wood and got a different colouring. In my experience it can really depend on what wood you use, how moist and how rotten it is will give different colours.
Now, i am not a purist and my time has many demands on it so i did use a sewing machine instead of hand stitching with sinew. Although i did for some parts of it.
Yep, those are deer antler buttons.

Rabbit fur body warmer anyone? SOOO toasty and warm. Although haven't managed to put it to good use yet this winter. I am sure i will get the chance at some point. It took 14 meat rabbits for the body warmer some tanning and a needle and thread. Some great natural insulation power without the microplastics, fast fashion or price tag. Some how i don't think the fashion will catch on. What do you think, Rabbit body warmer?

Forest Fire!!! I had the luck of being out in the the woods in a storm and found this lightning struck tree shortly after the storm. I thought my buddy had a lit a big fire as i was on my way back to camp. I was a little wrong!
It was a huge cedar tree that was hollow in the middle and the lightning had set the middle alight. The bark and chunks of the tree where blown all over the place. Impressive the force of nature.
Its out now!

An afternoon break from work gave me the perfect excuse to run up the nearby Mount Mckean. A great little scramble up the direct ridge to the peak. Some serious terrain with a little exposure and still a chunk of snow cover. So it made for a fun outing. We even got some slushy rain on the peak.
