Have you noticed fewer garbage cans in downtown Simcoe lately?

Since moving to our new downtown location, we at Awaken Day Spa have been picking up litter outside our building on a daily basis. It’s become increasingly frustrating—not just for us, but for anyone who cares about the appearance of our downtown. First impressions matter, and no one wants to be greeted by trash on the sidewalk.

It seems that Norfolk County has removed several public garbage bins from the core, and the result is clear: more litter on our streets. So, who’s to blame? With few disposal options available, are people just expected to carry their garbage home? That hardly seems practical.

Rather than just complain, we’ve decided to take action.

We’re installing a large outdoor garbage bin on Young Street, right outside Awaken Day Spa. Our team will maintain and empty it regularly to help keep our street clean and welcoming.

A small step, but one we hope makes a big impact.
