Comma Echo

Shelburne, meet the creator of 'Castaway' - an immersive rock opera featuring stories and music from the eye of a storm. James’ career as an award-winning photographer and filmmaker started in the Caribbean working in tourism, economic-development, energy and industry, with elite athletes and scientists... mostly in the ocean.

In 2020 James released the album 'Small Craft Warning' and called the project, which incorporates music and film, "Comma Echo" - a meteorological term to describe the shape that hurricanes make when they start to spin. James then brought his production studio The Art of Storytelling to Ontario with the support of his partner Miranda. Residents of Dufferin County will immediately recognize their vibrant, informative videos highlighting local businesses and municipal affairs.

In 2022 James worked with Shelburne resident guitarist Tyler Reed to release 'Heavy Rotation', again under the Comma Echo umbrella. Since then the duo have teamed up with Drummer Steve Soper and Danielle Stevanov on Ukulele to bring music and stories to larger venues in an engaging 90min format for audiences of all ages... "Castaway is equal parts life story, rock opera and also a way for us to introduce folks to the Comma Echo sound which we think is very unique."
