Ok so bear with me - I know firsthand that venturing out alone can be daunting. Back in 2021 when I left NL for my first travel nurse contract in BC, I was alone with NO family, no friends, just me and my doggo for over 6 months! 🫢 It was tough at first, but those 6 months of solo adventure helped me break out of my shell and garner a sense of independence that I’m so grateful for today. Jake’s love for the great outdoors has stood the test of time. As a puppy, he’d spend hours in the front yard, soaking up the sun and barking at everyone walking by in true Labrador style.

Now, at the wise age of 17, his love for the outdoors remains unchanged! After a bath, you can find him in his favorite spot - drying off in the warm sun 🥹☀️

He’s in his happy place, soaking up the rays and feeling the warmth on his fur. We love spoiling him and making sure he gets to enjoy the little things in life, like a sunny day. 🐾☀️

Every single day, Jake still asks to be brought outside to bask in the sunshine and smell the flowers. It’s his own little slice of heaven, and we’re so grateful to be able to give it to him. 🌻☀️🫶🏼

Ever wonder why I live in a small coastal town instead of the city? 🤔

I often get that question - “why are you living on the sunshine coast? why don’t you just go to Vancouver?” well, I’m here to tell you that the coastal charm is worth the ferry commute ⛴️🌿🌊 As a girl born and raised by the water, living by the sea on the opposite side of the country still gives me that sense of home despite being so far away. 🥰 Coming from Newfoundland, we’d always sing the anthem “Saltwater Joys” to describe all the things we appreciate about living in a quaint, small fishing town. There have been countless days all the way over here on the sunshine coast where that song has resonated with me soooo deeply. The older I get, the more I realize those ocean smells really ARE perfume to my soul 🤍🌊 Living on both coastlines of the country, I recognize the privilege that comes with living in such a unique, beautiful area surrounded by nature and wildlife.. and the freedom to explore it all! From hiking through ancient forests to kayaking alongside playful seals, every day feels like an adventure. The peace and tranquility of the coast feed my soul, and the community’s warmth makes it feel like home. 🫶🏼🌿 So, why would I trade this coastal charm for the hustle and bustle of city life? No ferry commute could ever take away from the joy of living among nature this way! Plus, having grown up in Labrador, I’ve got ferry commuting down to a science.
