We’re excited to announce that we’ll be sponsoring the 10th Anniversary of the Gold Eagle Open at Jackfish Lake! We’re busy cooking up some custom designs and planning some weekend events, which we couldn’t be more excited about 😊.

This event is such an important one for the Saskatchewan disc golf scene, being Saskatchewans only annual A-Tier event! The course and the event itself are put together incredibly well by all the event organizers and volunteers. It’s amazing to see what the community can do when they rally around an event like this.

If you haven’t yet, check out the details for the event on disc golf scene, sign-up for one of the many competitive brackets, and/or come out to see what’s happening at this cool annual event. We’re excited 😊.

We’re hiring! 🌾🥏🦆

Grassland Discs is growing and we're looking for a part-time **Production Support** person in Saskatoon!

This hands-on role will help with disc production, order preparation, inventory, packaging, and general shop support.

Expected hours are approximately **2–3 hours per day, 3 to 5 times per week**, with potential for longer shifts or weekend work as needed.

No previous experience is required — reliability, willingness to learn, and a practical attitude matter most. If you're in school and looking for a bit of extra cash, or just looking to learn more about disc golf design or 3D printing, this is for you!

Learn more about the role and apply through our website, at:

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to present to the SIIT Entrepreneurship and Makers class.

We shared a bit about Grassland Discs, how we got started, what we’ve learned building a small product-based business, and how 3D printing has helped us experiment, prototype, and produce our own discs.

This one scratched an itch for both of us. We both enjoy talking through ideas, technology, product development, and entrepreneurship — but Thilina, who also teaches as a professor at the University of Saskatchewan, was especially in his element.

The best part was the conversation with the class. There were a lot of thoughtful questions, insights, and ideas, but one that really stood out was the potential for developing disc golf courses in First Nations communities. Some of the students spoke about how certain communities have a lot of available space, but not always enough accessible recreation options.

That opened up a really interesting discussion around recreation, community spaces, and how disc golf could be a simple, low-barrier, and community-driven activity in the right places.

Thanks again to SIIT and everyone who joined the conversation. We left with some new ideas and a lot to think about!

We released the Makers Mallard earlier this week, and the community support and engagement around it has been truly amazing! Several people have shared their prints already, and we couldn’t be more excited about it 😊.

As an innovation company, we plan to continue to push the boundaries of what we can do in disc golf. Making one of our discs open to the community means that others can get involved with creating, innovating, and learning about disc design and construction, which we believe is going to continue to push this sport to see its full potential.

We have more surprises coming, so stay tuned as we continue to go on this wild journey. As always, thanks for your support along the way.

The Makers Mallard is live on MakerWorld now! 🥏🦆

This is not a normal disc release though.

The Makers Mallard is a printable version of a real Grassland Discs design. It uses the exact same shape as our standard Mallard, but because this version is not manufactured through our controlled QA process, production tooling, or specific plastic blends, it is not PDGA approved.

This version is built for access, experimentation, and community innovation.

We know releasing a printable disc might seem like giving away intellectual property. But we see it differently. We believe this could be part of the future of disc golf.

A printable disc can reduce shipping barriers, give more people an entry point into the sport, and let makers around the world experiment with materials, colours, weights, print settings, and plastics.

It’s a disc you can print, take outside, and use for a full casual round!

And if you want the official PDGA-approved version, you can purchase our production Mallard directly from Grassland Discs or through one of our supporting vendors.

This idea started because our fans asked for it. So if you want more releases like this, let us know. Your comments, support, downloads, makes, feedback, and ideas matter.

Download it on MakerWorld. Print it. Test it. Throw it.

And when you do, tag us and use so we can see what you make. Have fun out there! Love you all, and get out and enjoy the sport 🦆.
