A year ago, Karla Kloeble suggested to a few dancer friends who were feeling the lack of dance activities at the end of summer, that we get together and work every day for 10 days. She suggested we improvise with the theme of "contradictions". We called ourselves "4 at 4", because initially we were four dancers, and we planned to dance at 4pm every day.

With the generous help of Jackie Latendresse who donated studio time at her facility; Free Flow Dance, the four dancers; Karla, Mitchell, Jessica and myself, Miki, began working on August 28, 2015. After that first session, Jessica had to drop out, though she remained a valued supporter.

The rest of us continued, working in October, and then again in December and January, when we presented an initial version of the show; Contradictions, to an audience of 40+ supporters on January 10.

We applied for, and were successful in obtaining grants from Dance Saskatchewan and The Saskatchewan Arts Board. We continued to work on it during the late winter and spring of 2016. Karla and Mitchell developed a duet sequence and Miki presented a solo perfomance of a portion of the show at l'Artére in Montreal.

Then in June we presented a section for the WIP at Free Flow Dance, and in July a duet with Mitchell and Miki for the Back Alley Antics. We created and rehearsed almost every day all through July and August.

Last night we had our dress rehearsal for the final, full length version of the show, which opens on Friday, August 26 at Dance Saskatchewan, and closes on Sunday, August 28; one year after our first working session on the theme of Contradictions.
