On March 24th, 1892, Dr. Robert Koch, a German physician and microbiologist, announced to a small group of fellow scientists, he had identified the bacillus responsible for tuberculosis. This achievement would pave the way to diagnose and treat this devastating illness.

To commemorate his critical discovery and to raise global awareness, the World Health Organization has designated March 24th as World Tuberculosis Day. This year’s campaign theme: Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver, offers strategies to confront and redress the continuing threat TB poses. To learn more, go to: https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-tb-day/2025
