5 years 🖤
This May marks 5 years as a Real Estate Agent. When I was writing my licensing exam, I was told in a room full of hundreds of people “in 5 years from now, only two of you will still be in this business.” I’m sure everyone had this thought, but I somehow knew it would be me.
I’ve been told many times in my life that I won’t be able to do things.
“You’ll never get a degree”
“You won’t pass this class”
“You wont make it as an entrepreneur”
“You won’t finish a Hyrox”
The list goes on. If I listened to the noise, I have no idea where I would be but it wouldn’t be here. There were moments when quitting would have been easier, but I always found a way to keep going. The little voice in your head saying “you can do it” is the only confirmation you need. It is truly amazing what you can accomplish when you realize you can do anything. Like my dad always said “whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.” (Thanks Dad ❤️)
This isn’t just a 5 year anniversary, it means I made it when everyone told me I wouldn’t. When someone doubts you, it just makes you want to do it that much more.
So, what else can’t I do? 😏
1. Overpricing your home
It’s tempting to “test the market,” but overpriced homes sit longer, get stale, and often end up selling below market value after price cuts. Buyers notice days-on-market more than sellers think.
2. Skipping proper prep (or doing too little)
Small things matter more than you expect—paint touch-ups, lighting, decluttering, even smells. Buyers decide emotionally first. A home that feels clean and cared for sells faster and for more.
3. Not getting a professional photographer
This is essential to get people through the door. Dark, cluttered, or phone-quality photos can kill interest before anyone steps inside. iPhone photos will NOT cut it.
4. Being unavailable or inflexible for showings
The easier it is to view your home, the more buyers you attract. Limiting showings too much can reduce competition—and your final sale price.
5. Not hiring me as your agent
