Thank you Marlynn for your words of wisdom this week!

Point 1: Good moms love their families well. To love others well, we need to take care of ourselves and love ourselves.

Point 2: Moms can’t do it all, and do it all perfectly, and that’s ok.
Making mistakes helps our kids build resilience, tolerance, and empathy.
When we make mistakes we are building character.

Point 3: Mom friends understand the struggles you’re going through.
Friends encourage us on bad days, strengthen us on weak days, and even give us a kick in the pants when we need it.

Motherhood is HARD! Sometimes it feels like you’re winning the battle; sometimes it feels like you’re losing it.

This semester we are focusing on Ephesians 6:13-17. How can we arm and equip ourselves in the trenches of motherhood? What kind of habits can we develop that help us thrive?

We’re excited to walk through this journey this semester with you!

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank you for joining us this semester! We hope that you were able to take something encouraging home with you. Here are some other “takeaway tips” from your momma peers!

Encouragement from other tables:

* Reflected about embracing all the mess: physical, emotional, and relational - are we saying no more than we are saying yes. Take a moment to stop and think before we respond.

* Part of learning is failing. You are supposed to fail while you are learning. Failing in motherhood gives us opportunities to give ourselves grace and to teach our kids how to fail and get back up again.

* Mess- sounds negative, we love the words”beautiful mess” instead. Embrace it, take all the “mess” and make it pretty. Teaching moments are found in the messy moments.

* No body cares about perfection! Ask for help - use friends and family if you can. People want to help!

* Embracing imperfection. It will take time to find a balance. There is no perfect mom - It’s a lifelong journey.

* There will come a time (or maybe already has) where your “heart work” shines through. When kids are fighting for the 37th time but you hear them say sorry, or when your little one says “thank you”. Your kids are always watching you and one day all your heart work will be evident!

* You’re worth knowing! The people in your life are lucky to know you!

* We all struggle. Period. No one is perfect, no one has it all together, no matter how well put together someone appears. Anything from “normal mom things” to childhood trauma, to mental illness and so much more. The more you talk about these struggles, the less powers it gives them.

* “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬
