Try this: “I build custom packages for my clients so it depends on what you need. The first step would be to hop on a quick call so we can go over what you need. Are you free on Monday or Wednesday to have a quick 20-minute chat? Then I can put together a proposal for you.”
If they insist on getting a general idea of your pricing before booking a chat, you can try these phrases:
“My average client invests around $1500 per month.”
“Most of my clients start in the mid-range of $1500 per month.”
This gives you some wiggle room to create a proposal you feel solid about.
Sharing a mid-range versus a starting budget also gives them an idea that there is more to build toward, keeping the focus on growth.
