Let’s chat about the adornment of gold accessories!

Historically speaking you can date the use of gold accessories back to the Nubian Egyptians, Indian kingdoms, and Mesopotamians eras. They used their adornments to signify wealth and status.

The more recent rise in these gold goodies can be attributed to the black and brown trend setters of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but these trends were adopted quickly or widely accepted off the jump.

Previously there was a stigma around the adornment of rings, stacked chains and bracelets, hoops, nose clasps, etc. It could be attributed to racial biases and the idea that over accessorizing wasn’t fashionable or seen as “ghetto” , which if you look at the people and then back to the cultures and how they are known for these adornment - it’s in their roots and its royal!

Nowadays these adornments are WAY more commonplace, but I think it’s important to know the history behind the items we decide wear so that we can respect where they came from, as well as understand the significance these items may carry for someone else!

Not only are these adornments a beautiful thing to share with each other but also a deep rooted cultural significance we get to continue to take part in 💛
