Did you know bison are nature's ultimate ecosystem engineers?

Bison are considered a keystone species, which means their presence has a positive ripple effect on everything around them.
When bison wallow in the dirt to escape pesky flies, they create shallow depressions that become perfect places for seeds to sprout and small animals to make their homes.

As they roam, they carry seeds in their thick coats, helping plants spread across the landscape.🌿Their dung naturally fertilizes the soil and provides food and habitat for insects, which in turn feed birds and other wildlife.🐦🐞

For thousands of years, bison have also been an important food source for both predators, like wolves, and people.

Every step a bison takes helps shape a healthier, more diverse prairie ecosystem.🌱

After nearly disappearing from the landscape, bison are once again playing their vital role in restoring grasslands and supporting countless other species.

Now that's something worth celebrating!😎
