Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership
Newcomer Series – Citizenship Ceremony Reflections
This video is part of the Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership (RDLIP) newcomer series, which shares moments and voices that reflect the experiences, contributions, and journeys of newcomers in Red Deer. In this clip, Member of Parliament Burton Bailey speaks at RDLIP’s Citizenship Ceremony, held on September 19, 2025, at Red Deer Polytechnic. His remarks recognize the significance of Canadian citizenship and celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of newcomers who now call Red Deer home. The newcomer series was developed to support understanding, foster belonging, and encourage engagement within the community by highlighting newcomer perspectives and experiences. Through storytelling and shared moments like this ceremony, RDLIP aims to create space for reflection, learning, and stronger connections across Red Deer. This project is part of RDLIP’s ongoing anti-racism efforts, grounded in listening, inclusion, and community connection.
