Eliminator Performance

We are a Pro Battery Shops dealer, and we now have access to the Trans-Canada line of AGM U1 batteries, great for riding mowers that are used in the winter season. Unlike typical Flooded Lead-Acid batteries, AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) can withstand lower temps, just like the battery in your car or truck!

Riding mower came in today for a hard starting issue.

Battery tested good, time to diagnose components.

With my 10ft 3-wire test lead kit, I am able to power the solenoid using a small 12v battery kit. And with the battery disconnected, measure resistance between the terminals (positive to starter) using my Fluke multimeter.

This solenoid tested at 39,000 ohms, and at times spiked much higher.

If voltage remains constant (12v+ battery or 14v from the alternator) and resistance increases, amperage is decreased at the starter.

This mower couldn't crank past the compression stroke, even with a fully charged 430ca battery.

Replaced the solenoid, cleaned up the ground connection, and also cleaned all the terminals and this mower is good to go.
