Would you like a freezer full of ground beef?
We can help! In the next few weeks we have a few animals going in for ground beef. These are older animals, a little too tough for steaks and roasts, but make excellent and nutritious leaner ground beef!
These guys have been out on grass all spring and summer so far, and spent the winter bale grazing, so if you are looking for grass fed ground beef, this is it!
Available by the 1/4, 1/2 or full beef. We are booking in with Black Sheep Meats in Ponoka. If you yet to try his seasoned hamburger patties, or honey garlic pepperoni sticks I recommend requesting those when you give your cutting instructions!
Price and estimate breakdowns in the comments, or on our website. http://www.stretchfamilyfarms.ca/thefarmstore.html
New additions are settling in well!

A busy day yesterday, and just getting started for the week!
I started my day with an early eye doctor appt, picking up some more turkey feed and shavings for the new chick's. From there out to Bentley for a tote of feed for the laying hens.
Then we all went out to check cows and update our records, and pick out a handful of bull calves to narrow down on as possible bull prospects. We also noted a few cows that don't look like they will be calving (meaning we might have a couple cull cows available for ground beef if you're interested).
Followed by getting the coop ready for new chick's that came this morning! The 5 year old was really excited to help me get them set up this morning. They will stay in here nice and warm for a few weeks before we put them outside on grass.
Then driving up the road I came across a trouble maker, our young bull was excited to make an escape and try to get in with the cows a mile up the road. Needless to say we got him locked in the corals, and a short hour later while putting kids to bed the older two bulls decide to try for their own escape. And now all three are in a timeout until they learn to respect some fences.
Finally, adding to the busy day, one of our cows calved, but her udder has dropped enough it's hard for the calf to latch so we had to bring her in and milk her then bottle it to the calf. We're hoping with a little more energy and some colostrum it will try a little harder to suck on mom. She's always been a really good mom, but due to her udder this will be her ninth and last calf. And while she's generally a pretty quiet cow, she was definitely not happy with being seperated from her calf this morning while I fed it.
Today's goals: get the next pen set up for the sheep to rotate too. Lots of checks on the baby chick's to make sure they're staying warm enough. Crossing fingers I'll see baby drinking off of mom. Do some homeschooling and work on the unending pile of laundry. And the kids have requested we go grocery shopping lol.
And I have soap! :)
Have a great day!
