Did you know?

On May 24, 1995, an Ontario Court judge ruled that denying same-sex couples the right to adopt jointly violated Section 15 (equality rights) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The decision made Ontario the first Canadian province to make it legal for same-sex couples to adopt, followed closely by British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia. In the next 16 years, the rest of Canada did the same.
