❤️💙 HELP US HELP KAI! 💙❤️

A little bit ago we posted an update on our lovely boy Kai, who has dealt with some complicated ortho issues since coming into our care. To refresh your memories; Kai was diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia via xray during his specialist appointment with Capital City Vet a few months ago. He was an absolute champ for his CT scan, and with the results of that scan, it is in his best interest to go ahead with the bilateral arthroscopy procedure to correct his elbow dysplasia. His surgery is now set for January 2nd!

This is a very expensive procedure, estimated to be anywhere from $7500 to $8900, however it will truly make a huge difference in Kai’s mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life. We want nothing more than for him to live a pain free and normal life just like any other pup. We are of course overwhelmed by the large cost of this procedure, but it also is a relief to know he has a great treatment plan and great ortho vets to help him. We have already raised almost half of our goal; we are at $4486.05 raised for Kai (updated totals from FUNdrive and Purdy’s fundraisers coming soon!)

We would appreciate any and all support from our community to get closer to our goal and get Kai his arthroscopy surgery.

If you would like to help Kai as we get closer to his surgery date; monetary donations can be made via e-transfer to [email protected] OR via PayPal to https://www.paypal.me/EOPRfundraise

Thank you all, as always for your ongoing support and kindness. We couldn’t do what we do without our community, especially with how tough and tight on funds the last couple years have been. Our intakes remain closed at this time to focus on raising funds for Kai, and finding forever homes for our current dogs in care. 💙

🧢 ADOPTED 🧢

Please meet LUKE!

Male
Potcake from Barbados
11 months old
13kg & growing

Dogs: Yes! Is currently the only dog in the home; but we feel he would thrive with a buddy to keep him company!
Cats: Has seen a cat but not formally tested. Dog savvy cats may be ok!
Kids: Untested. Due to limited of exposure, a home with dog savvy children 8yrs+ is most suitable!
Housing: No apartments please! He has had separation anxiety in the past, which may regress as he transitions to his new home. This has improved but will need continued training!
Adoption fee: $800

Our handsome guy Luke is ready to find his perfect match! Luke has come so far, and it’s been lovely to see his happy and bubbly personality shine. He can be a little bit shy at first when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and is a joy to be around. Like most potcakes, Luke thrives having a trusting relationship with his people. Once that is built, you will see all his awesome qualities come out! Luke has a medium energy level with typical bursts of puppy playfulness, and he would do well in most types of homes. He is happy to go on an adventure with her person, but equally as pleased to cuddle up on the couch with you. Luke loves to chew, so it’s important he is provided with appropriate chews and toys. Luke is VERY food motivated and eager to please; he is a quick learner! He will thrive with continued training and socialization. Training lessons are always highly recommended and must be committed to when adopting any dog from EOPR!

Luke showed some separation anxiety as a younger puppy, and though it is greatly improved, it’s possible it could regress as he transitions to his new home. He is crate trained as well; he is comfortable in his crate and sleeps through the night in it! Luke is fully potty trained. It is common for puppies/young dogs to regress in their training when moving to a new home; this can look like more crying in the crate, accidents indoors, etc. New adopters should always be prepared for a decompression and adjustment period! Luke walks well on leash for his age and will happily walk on a collar or a harness. He does not currently live with another dog, but we think he would love to have a buddy in his new home! Luke has a very sweet and calm presence; to be around him is always a joy! He is friendly, happy, and so kind. He loves to play fetch, and already knows many basic commands! We know he will make an excellent addition to the right home, and we are so excited for him to find his perfect match!
