🌿 Taking time to slow down and consciously breath is important for so many reasons.
When you inhale deeply and deliberately you are stimulating your vagus nerve which activates specific neurons that detect blood pressure. These neurons signal the vagus nerve that blood pressure is too high, it then responds by lowering your heart rate.
⬇️ Here's a quick and easy way to stimulate your vagus nerve.
💫Place one hand on your belly.
Take a deep breath and imagine filling up your belly with air, slowly filling up the lungs.
💫Then, exhale slowly feeling the hand on your belly lower.
This stimulates your vagus nerve which activates your parasympathetic nervous system 🌿

🌿As the weather starts to shift and we move into fall, our eating habits also change.
We tend to gravitate towards warmer, cozier and comforting foods like root veggies, soups, stews, chilis and pies.
🍂 This is natural and normal!
What is your favourite comfort food this time of year?

The brain is an electrochemical organ, consisting of five types of brain waves:
🧠 Beta waves: Active, busy thinking, active processing, active concentration, and cognition
🧠 Alpha waves: Calm relaxed yet alert state
🧠 Theta waves: Deep meditation and relaxation, REM sleep
🧠 Delta waves: Deep dreamless sleep, loss of body awareness
🧠 Gamma waves: Higher mental activity, including perception, problem solving, and consciousness
Different waves get activated for different tasks or states of being throughout the day.
🙌 Meditation, deep breathing, movement, neurofeedback, pulsed electromagnetic therapy are all ways to train the brain.
🤔 Did you know your brain had 5 different waves?

🧠 Studies show that our brain is on autopilot nearly half the time.
Bringing awareness back to the present moment is a powerful tool to bring calm to the mind.
🌿 Pictured are some ways that you can practice mindfulness everyday.
Pick something to start with, let's say brushing your teeth.
1) Notice your toothbrush - what is the colour, what does it feel like? Do you like it?
2) Apply toothpaste - what colour is it? What does it smell like?
3) While brushing, pay attention to the act of brushing your teeth - how does it taste? How does it feel?
Notice where your mind naturally gravitates to.
Bringing awareness and connection to everyday tasks can help ease anxiety.
We hope this finds you well 💙
