A major milestone for sustainable military housing: the Government of Canada’s first net-zero-emissions-ready apartment building is now open at CFB Edmonton.

Today, Defence Construction Canada (DCC) celebrated the completion of the project, delivering 36 modern, move-in-ready units for Canadian Armed Forces members and their families.

As the contracting authority for the Department of National Defence (DND), DCC procures and manages project contracts on their behalf. Working closely with DND, the Canadian Forces Housing Agency (CFHA), and our industry partners, we made this project a reality.

DCC’s Vice-President, Operations—Business Management, Grant Sayers and DCC project team members joined the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, CFHA Chief Executive Officer Paola Zurro, and industry partners for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
