Operation Hope — Story One

Amy is a young woman who came to us carrying deep loss and regret after her abortion. When she first discovered she was pregnant, her doctor immediately suggested that she consider abortion. Feeling completely unprepared for the possibility
of parenting, and still in a state of shock, she felt pressure to quickly “deal with the situation.” Within just three days of learning she was pregnant, she made the decision to have a medical abortion.

Now, she often finds herself wondering if everything happened too quickly. Questions like, “What if I had taken more time to think through my options?” come to mind.

Having a safe place to process emotions like regret, sadness and shame have been an important part of her healing. As she shares her story, she is beginning to grow in compassion for herself and is slowly moving toward forgiveness. She is learning how to
acknowledge her emotions rather than numb them.

During one of our sessions, Amy shared that she felt she would like to try praying—even though she has no faith background. Since then, we have begun ending our time together each week in prayer, bringing the struggles she is facing before God
and inviting Him to carry the burdens of her heart.

Seeds of love, faith, and hope are being planted—seeds that have the potential to change the trajectory of a life. We thank God for the privilege of coming alongside women during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and being able to watch
as God brings beauty from ashes.

Because every story matters, and every story can hold hope.
