Celebrating National Multiple Births Awareness Day in Canada!

Today at CPBF, we spotlight the unique challenges faced by families with multiples, particularly those including preemies. Their journey is filled with distinctive experiences and needs.

A multiple pregnancy is at higher risk for premature delivery. Here are some facts about multiple births:

Approximately 56% of twins are born prematurely and require a NICU stay.

Identical multiples face the risk of a life-threatening condition known as Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, which sometimes necessitates delicate laser surgery in utero.

Many multiples, born prematurely and/or with low birth weight, tend to meet developmental milestones later than average.
