We enjoyed an exciting 30 hours in the snow and are glad to be back. We are finalizing services for the remaining homes and businesses, with many operators beginning their third pass. Here is our plan for Friday, the 6th: Tractor Operator/City Grader Update: City graders are scheduled to start at 7:30 am, and we expect to see them clearing streets soon. Our operators will follow the graders, clearing any remaining plow piles. In areas where the city is delayed, our operators will complete a third pass while waiting for street plows. Shovelling Crews Update: Crews were dispatched by 6:30 am and will work throughout the day to clear walkways. Salt Trucks: Our salt trucks will make commercial runs this morning and afternoon. Have a great day, and please contact our office if you need assistance. Remember to slow down when you see flashing lights, indicating crews are working, and prioritize safety.

Are you aware that September marks CMT Awareness Month? Do you know what CMT is? CMT is a progressive neurological disease with no cure in sight. Our Director's 12-year-old daughter has been living with this debilitating condition for 12 years, during which she has gone from running to wheelchair-bound. This highlights the significance of our mission to donate 5% of our earnings. Notably, our Director has also received an early-onset CMT diagnosis, which he has discovered through research to be a hereditary condition in his family. He experiences muscle pain and nerve discomfort in his legs and arms, particularly in colder weather. With CMT affecting one in every 2,500 individuals, its progression is a slow and painful one. Raising awareness is vital, and we are grateful for the remarkable work done at CHEO.

In Orleans, a homeowner faced government failures at all levels, resulting in her backyard becoming a perpetual swamp. Her counselor proved unhelpful, prompting her to contact SLC in desperation. We responded on a Thursday and, within four business days, restored her backyard to a dry and grassy state. Our work involved removing 18 metric tons of clay, installing a French drain system, and applying a Hydro sand and topsoil mixture, yielding a remarkable outcome.

Good morning Ottawa

Here’s a job we wrapped up on Wednesday in old Ottawa South . One property had a subterranean wall because back 35 years ago the road used to be 36 inches lower due to this area being in what’s called a floodplain the city built up the road and all the front yards this particular subterranean concrete wall was half on each property. One property was in accessible due to beautiful lush gardens, so SLC had to carefully remove the wall without using a jackhammer and with 12 inches of an active gas line.

When the project was finished, both homeowners got back their property. Both homeowners are satisfied another job. Well done thanks to the dedicated team of experts with SLC contracting
