An update from Coach Stu:

Two hikes down.

The Grouse Grind in Vancouver yesterday.

The Chief in Squamish today.

Just before the final scramble to the summit, I stopped in one of the few patches of shade on the mountain.

My chest was pounding. My heart rate was deep into Zone 4. I needed a break.

So I stood there and took a few slow breaths.

For about five breaths, I slipped into a short meditation and a simple mantra appeared from somewhere deep inside:

“I love my body.”

“I love my life.”

“I’m so grateful for all that I have.”

Then it was gone.

I looked up at the rock face, pushed through the final climb, and stepped out onto one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen.

As a coach, I spend a lot of time talking about fitness. But moments like this remind me that fitness isn’t really about the gym.

It’s about having the health, strength, and freedom to experience life fully.

Today, that meant standing on top of The Chief with my son and some of my dearest friends.

And for that, I’m incredibly grateful.
