The QEW Garden City Skyway Bridge Twinning project will see a new 2.2 km-long bridge constructed across the Welland Canal between St. Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake, alongside the existing Skyway bridge. Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria has called the project “a generational asset that will support the growth for this area and ensure that we have a strong economy” by easing transportation across the region.
St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe says that the Skyway Twinning carries the potential for “real, immediate benefits for local workers and contractors.” In order to realize that potential, we are asking the Province to commit to specific investments in our communities.
