A pantry should work as hard as it looks beautiful ~ and this one does both.
When I design a pantry, I think about how my clients actually use the space. Where do they prep? What do they want to see versus hide? How can the details make every day feel a little more elevated?
Whether you have a walk-in, a butler’s pantry, or a dedicated cabinet ~ the right design decisions make all the difference.

SWIPE FOR THE BEFORE ➡️
This small basement bathroom got a full renovation ~ and even in a tight footprint, a few intentional choices made all the difference.
🪟 The window well became the mirror spot. This bathroom never had a mirror, and there wasn’t another spot for one ~ so I found a round mirror that fit perfectly in the recessed window area, with a hook to hang it from. It doesn’t fully block the window, so natural light still comes through.
🚰 I kept the original sink. It was in great shape, so I had a new vanity built around it ~ saving budget for the things that mattered more.
⚫ A dark vanity grounds the the space. In a small all-white room, a black vanity adds contrast and makes the room feel more designed, not just renovated.
🔲 New penny tile flooring ties it all together and adds a timeless, classic touch.
A full gut renovation doesn’t have to mean a complete style overhaul. Sometimes it’s about making smart, intentional choices that maximize a small footprint.

The mudroom that started it all.
This was the first room I designed for my own home ~ and the herringbone brick floor was the very first selection I made. Everything else was built around it.
Beadboard, matte black hooks, built-in cubbies, and that floor. There’s something about committing to one bold material choice that makes every decision after it easier.
This is one of my favourite projects and I will never get tired of that floor. 10 years later I still love it.

or finish you have built an entire room around?
