For National Indigenous History Month, we're celebrating the artists whose stories and cultures inspire the products they create.

Meet Chantelle Trainor-Matties, a Nisg̱a’a and Métis artist from British Columbia and the designer behind this beautiful soccer ball.

Inspired by the ocean, Chantelle created a design where a pod of orcas emerges across the ball's panels, symbolizing teamwork, family, and the incredible wildlife of the West Coast. Every detail reflects her connection to her culture and her signature blend of contemporary Northwest Coast formline.

Through her business, Frettchan Studios, Chantelle continues to share her art while reclaiming her Indigeneity through creativity and learning the Nisg̱a’a language.
