We're excited to be back at the Island Roots Farmers' Market this summer with FREE kids' activities every Wednesday from 3:00–6:00 PM!

Join us starting this Wednesday, June 24th, as we get our hands dirty and do a little flower planting. 🌼🌱

A huge thank you to GARDENWORKS Nanaimo for generously donating soil, seeds, and plant pots to help make this activity possible. We love partnering with organizations that are just as passionate about getting kids outside, exploring, creating, and connecting with nature as we are.

Our time in Indonesia has come to an end and we begin our 19hr journey home today. We found a book sale so I’m set for reading material for the plane. I can’t wait to be back share all the gifts and treats we’re bringing home with all our learners. See you soon friends!

We’re always happy when new friends join us at camp… but we were really excited to see these friends at camp this week.

One of the gifts of spending time in the same place week after week is discovering how it shifts and changes. 💛

Pacific Biological Station is hosting an open house Saturday May 30th. We’re not able to attend as we are off exploring but we’re super happy to share this opportunity with our community.

“Indonesia!! WOW!! Yup, that's a good excuse for not being able to attend the PBS Open House.

It is an event for all ages and so many scientists will be showcasing their work. Also, we will have a live animal exhibit. I attached a copy of our event poster, and we are excited that you will be sharing it.”

Beautiful start to the day

Open Air Learning is growing.

We’re adding more programming and looking for a part-time educator to join our team.

This isn’t a desk job. Our days look like building, exploring, problem-solving, moving, and figuring things out in real time. Kids are challenged, supported, and given space to think for themselves.

We’re looking for an educator who’s comfortable doing things differently. Someone who can jump into a child’s idea and stretch it further. Someone who sees the outdoors as part of the learning, not a break from it, and knows how to balance guidance with freedom, structure with movement, and learning with play.
