Ludwig Godefroy, Casa Alferez, Mexico City, Mexico, 2023.
The Quebrada de Alférez House is inspired by the archetype of the cabin and the romantic idea of a protective retreat in the forest, an isolated dwelling that appears as if it had been gently placed among the trees.
The design is guided by three main principles. First, it combines the warmth of a cabin with the security of a fortress, expressed through exposed concrete. The house is conceived as a protective shelter, with solid walls and elevated windows that enhance privacy and security. Second, the structure is designed to be highly compact, minimizing its footprint on the steep site and reducing the need for complex foundations.
Partially embedded into the hillside and partially cantilevered among the pines, it creates the impression of a cabin suspended within the natural landscape. Third, the house grows vertically rather than horizontally, reaching toward sunlight and the treetops.
Organized around split levels and a double-height space, it uses high windows and skylights to bring natural light deep into the interior.

Orma Architettura, Pavillons De Renava, Bonifacio, Corsica, France, 2022.
Developed through a collaboration between the City of Bonifacio, the Collectivity of Corsica, and the Association De Renava, this project transforms a series of overlooked and little-known spaces within the Citadel of Bonifacio into contemporary exhibition pavilions.
Vacant for many years, these historically significant sites have been carefully restored and adapted through a sensitive architectural approach that respects both their natural surroundings and their cultural heritage.
The intervention seeks to reconnect these forgotten places with local, insular, and international audiences.
Some of the restored spaces date back to the 11th century and now host contemporary artworks presented in dialogue with the existing historic fabric. Rather than competing with the monuments of the citadel, the new pavilions establish a discreet and non-intrusive presence that enhances the experience of the site.
Beyond preservation, the project aims to promote cultural participation, support local knowledge and craftsmanship, and encourage innovative artistic practices.

Diego Borrell, principal at TÁNAT, in conversation with Adrian Labaut, founder of PFAALL Magazine.
First image Expo Paisajes, Salón Acme, Galería OMR, Ciudad de México, 2020.
“When you work from the interior, you approach architecture as though it were a body. Knowing someone through their skin or clothing is very different from knowing them deeply from within.
I’m interested in that emotional purity, although I don’t consider myself religious, I value the mystical experience of space.”

At the highest point of the city, a bird lands after a long flight; among hills and rocks, it seeks to observe the great metropolis in awe… A pavilion that invites contemplation and discovery from within, framing unique views and spaces that can only be appreciated from great heights. A place to pause and delight in the urban landscape, a unique formal element where light, structure, and geometry merge: “A temporary space for prolonged memory.”
The 4.5-meter-high pavilion is organized using underground anchoring systems and constructed primarily of large-section circular metal tubes, joined by a lightweight, translucent, open-structure roof whose geometry is based on a catenary. The overall configuration of the pavilion is a modular design composed of ten M-shaped support units, fixed to ground anchors and metal angles at the top to join the edges and maintain the roof. To ensure the integrity of the pavilion, a circular profile extends horizontally, supporting all the elements.
