The class starts off slowly with an attempt to define what is a "vessel" according to halach that is... But the issue at hand is of an entirely different nature. The opinions of the Sages and R' Eliezer in the Talmud - Bava Metzia 59 - takes a fascinating turn when R' Eliezer "demands" that the sages accept his opinion. At first he cites countless answers and argumets, to cite the Gemara, "On that day R' Eliezer gave all the answers in the world, but the sages do not accept his agrumets."
After exasperating efforts using logic and reason, R' Eliezer seeks divine intervention to prove his point.. "Let the tree prove in my favour! The tree then miraclously is uprooting and flown in the air". But no miracle will save R' Eliezer, the sages are unfazed. Final, a voice from Heaven roars and exclaims, that all are "nothing" compare to R' Eliezer.. To the rescue stands R' Yehoshua and proclaims, "The Torah Is Not In Heaven"... If it is not in heaven, so where is it, Say I?
