Kroon Designs Upcycled Creations
I am starting off my winter post-market season with a refresh of the mind body home and studio (knowing which one to work on is still a balancing act).
For many of us, this jump prior to spring can mean purging excess items in the home, a fresh coat of paint or trying to uphold resolutions for the new year. I’m looking forward to minimizing my excess- because although I appreciate minimalism, I’m a maximalist at heart. I love textures and color, but also peace of mind and clutter is not my jam. We needed an area rug for our living room so the kids can play without sliding across the floor and we found this one that brought heaps of warmth, but our existing pillows which were starting to become tattered &needed a refresh. Rather than jumping to buy new I opted to look at what could be re-fashioned at home.
I managed to thrift two thick linen placemats with a funky pattern that happened to blend in beautifully with our new Turkish carpet. I’m so proud to dip into my Fabric stash and produce something that is cosy and cohesive in our little sanctuary. It’s helped me on my way to finding my Sewjo too and inspired me to see what else I can mend and repair in the cold winter season breathing love into the objects we do keep.
Wishing you all a mindful peaceful, and sustainable practice of your choosing. I highly recommend reusing and refurbishing items that you already have on hand. It’s such a rewarding win when you do!
