Get to know the people at the FLC

Today we’re learning more about Areeb.

Areeb is a fourth-year student in the B.Comm Accounting program. He first discovered the FLC through friends who told him about a “hidden study spot” underneath the KN Rotunda. After becoming a regular visitor because of the calming atmosphere and helpful resources, he joined the team for the 2023–24 school year and returned in Fall 2025 following a year of leave.

The FLC is a space that continuously evolves to support student success. Areeb particularly enjoys his time at the FLC because it allows him to learn about the wide variety of resources available. He finds it rewarding to see the library integrate new certifications and guides—especially those involving advancements in AI—to ensure students are equipped with necessary modern skills.

What’s Areeb’s advice to incoming UTM students? “Step out of your comfort zone”. Reflecting on his own journey from being an introverted student, he encourages others to attend events and talk to their peers, noting that these interactions are how he cultivated a strong friend group and gained personal confidence.

What’s next for Areeb? He plans to pursue his CPA designation and work in public accounting after graduation. Before diving into his career, he hopes to travel across Canada on the VIA Rail, with plans to visit Ottawa and Western Canada. The FLC wishes Areeb all the best on his journey!
