Parents often carry the weight of blame when their child has a hard moment.

It’s easy to think, “If they’re falling apart, it must mean I’m not doing enough.”

But what we know from child development is this: children release their biggest feelings with the person who feels safest. Their nervous system finally relaxes enough to let go. That’s why the meltdown often happens with you, and not at school or with someone else.

It can feel overwhelming. Especially in public, when strangers are watching. The stares make you question yourself. But their looks don’t tell your story. What matters is the bond between you and your child.

A meltdown is not a sign you’re failing.
It’s a sign your child trusts you to stay.

You don’t need to end every storm. You only need to show them they don’t have to face it alone.
