February marks Black History Month, an opportunity to recognize the impact, leadership, and lived experiences of Black communities.
It’s a time to pause, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations, while celebrating the strength, creativity, and contributions of Black individuals across generations. This month also invites us to think about how we can continue supporting equity and inclusion in our everyday actions.
We encourage everyone to take part in learning, listening, and amplifying Black voices.

✨ Member Monday Spotlight: Key Assets Ontario (KAON) ✨
Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Key Assets Ontario, an incredible organization that has been making a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children, youth, and families for the past 15 years. Their commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities truly deserves to be recognized and celebrated.
Key Assets Ontario serves children and youth ages 0–18+, with the ability to extend placements beyond 18 when needed. KAON supports young people with complex needs, including significant mental health challenges, developmental and intellectual disabilities, histories of trauma, high medical acuity, involvement in the justice system, physical aggression, and those impacted by human trafficking. Their team works with incredible dedication, compassion, and skill to meet children and youth exactly where they are.
What sets KAON apart is their relational approach — placing people at the heart of everything they do. Their programs include out-of-home care (foster care and staff-model placements), kinship and adoptive family support, therapeutic clinical services, prevention services, family support programs, and professional training. Every service they offer is anchored in one mission: creating safe, nurturing, and inclusive environments where children and youth can truly thrive.
KAON is also part of the Martin James Foundation, a global charitable group focused on transforming lives through care, community, and collaboration. Being part of such a strong national and international network allows KAON to extend its impact far beyond Ontario, contributing to broader change around the world.
Over the last 15 years, Key Assets Ontario has helped countless young people find belonging, stability, and hope — and has strengthened families and communities through empathy, partnership, and shared purpose. We are proud to have them as part of the Ontario Care Collective community.
Thank you, Key Assets Ontario, for the life-changing work you do every single day.
