Cherry's got the cancer 😥

We've been noticing her gradually losing weight, despite a larger than normal appetite, and then last week she began turning food down. Over the weekend we had her assessed and now we know. Poor girlie is a sick dog.

We'll be saying goodbye on Monday, and just trying to keep her comfy and doing some gentle, fun things with everyone till then.

Thankful for a restful weekend away in Orillia and Horseshoe Valley.
Vettä Spa is glorious and somehow keeps getting better.

Hey everyone, in case you've seen the photos of us that were circulated by Guelph Police earlier today, we are all just fine! This flattering photo was taken by a security camera at a local cafe, where Emmi and I had gone for a coffee date a week ago. A concerned citizen wanted to be sure that the young lady with the almost-middle-aged man was not being trafficked, and put a call in to the police.

These folks had already stopped us as we left the cafe, asking me to clarify my relationship with her. I guess my answers, and Emmi's general silence, didn't assure them of her safety. All that to say, I wasn't entirely surprised that this went as far as it did.

I spoke with an SVU officer today after many of you forwarded me this screenshot. They were very kind and have removed the post... saying to me, "Yeah, she's obviously your daughter, you guys look very much alike."

Guelph has been reported to have the highest rates of human trafficking in Canada. Some of that stat is due to the fact we have a dedicated unit, so reporting numbers are higher than elsewhere because it's being measured. In any case, I'm thankful for the young folks who approached us and subsequently called the police — if any of my kids had been in danger, I would hope for everyone to have their eyes open and not be too embarrassed to say something.

My teens' analysis over dinner was that I must have looked too young to be a father of a teenager, but still too old to be taking a teenager on a date. And that this should generally be considered a compliment.

I will take my compliments with less involvement from law enforcement in the future. K thanks bye.
