I’m saddened to announce that we have stopped selling to our customers in the United States.

The “de minimus” (Section 321/Duty Free) exemption of $800 has been abolished and pretty much everything shipped to the USA is now subject to a 35% import duty plus border processing fees

Many countries have a low “de minimus” exemption (Canada is only $20) but the unusual thing about this right now is that shipments can only be sent DDP (delivered duty paid) so the shipper is required to prepay this duty.

Etsy recommended increasing product pricing to cover these new costs, but they only provide “Domestic” and “Everywhere else” prices. So increasing the prices for everywhere else would affect Australia, UK and everywhere else…

In order to recover the cost of a 35% duty and break even, we would need to increase our sell price by 54%.
You may ask ‘why 54%?’ - because increasing the price to cover the duty results in a higher price that the duty is applied to.
I do not believe anyone would pay an additional
54% for any of our products.

Some people say that some sales are better than no sales, but we can’t absorb these new costs (we lose enough with just the Etsy fees and postage) and still find this enjoyable.

After all, this is my keep busy for retirement plan.

We are in the process of changing our Etsy settings to include sales to all other countries but Etsy doesn’t make these changes easily.

It was a lot of fun creating all the catalog and custom items for all the great customers over the past 3-1/2 years.

Thank you for your support and fingers crossed that some future administration reverses this decision.
